Certificate Programs

Certificate Program is a program being offered to junior students doing their majors which consists of 12 credit courses on specialty areas that are determined by the University Senate.

Certificate program does not entitle another undergraduate diploma. It only proves that the student who’s entitled to have an undergraduate diploma in IUE has achieved specialty in specified areas.

CONDITIONS

• A student has to be a “junior” student doing major program study
• A student has to have cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 over 4.00

APPLICATION AND ENROLLMENT

All students having their majors at Izmir University of Economics can enrol to certificate programs.

Applications can be made to OASIS on specified dates.

A commission consisting of three people under the presidency of the Program Coordinator is appointed by the Dean of the Faculty in charge of the Certificate Programs in order to evaluate the applications and determine the selection of the students to be admitted to the program.

Students’ grade point averages and/or results of the interview are taken into consideration in selecting the students. The rates of these criteria are determined by the relevant academic units.

Students who have been successful according to the criteria can enrol to the program within the contingency limits.

CERTIFICATE COORDINATORS

A “Certificate Program Coordinator” is appointed for each Certificate Program among the faculty members by the relevant Dean of the Faculty in order to coordinate the implementation of the Certificate Programs.

TUITION FEE

No tuition fees are required from the students who registered to Certificate Program and take certificate program courses  during  regular semesters (Fall and Spring semesters) as they continue with their Major Undergraduate Program. Tuition fees are required for Certificate Program courses taken at Summer School. The tuition fees for Summer School are determined each year by the Board of Trustees.

SUCCESS AND GRADUATION

• Certificate Programs continue within the normal legal periods required to graduate from major programs and are implemented according to the rules and regulations applied to the major program.
• Separate transcript is issued for Certificate Programs.
• The courses taken within the scope of certificate program cannot be substituted for the mandatory or elective courses within the scope of Major, Double Major, or Minor Programs later on.  The student cannot transfer from certificate program to Double Major or Minor program.
• A student with a grade point average of 2.00 or above is given a Certificate for the Program he/she attended.
• The registration of the students, who drop out of the Certificate Program, will be cancelled.
• Students who have successfully completed required courses for Major program but have failed to complete the courses required in the Certificate Program successfully will be entitled to get their Major Undergraduate Diploma. They will be able to  complete the Certificate Program courses later within the legal period for Major Program.
• Students can take the Certificate Program courses even after they graduate from Major Program. They can attend the courses as guest students on the condition that they fulfil their payment requirements. Those, who complete the anticipated courses in the program this way, are awarded their Certificates.
