Courses to be Offered at Summer School

In order for a course to be offered in summer school, at least 8 students need to be enrolled for the course.

It is not possible to open courses such as projects and workshops during summer school because of the feature and instruction of the course

The list of courses, determined by Faculties/Schools, that may be offered at 2016-2017 academic year summer school and their Summer School Schedule are announced on the University website.

Students will be able to demand courses other than the announced courses.

The announced courses and courses demanded by students that are not on the list may be offered at Summer School in the event that there are enough applications

Summer School Course Enrolments

  • Students can take 9 credit courses at most during summer instruction. Taking 10 credits is possible for the inseparable courses. Ex., three courses with 3+3+4 credit

  • Students, who defer registration, are not allowed to take courses at summer instruction for the semesters they were absent.

  • Students can take courses they have not taken before from previous semesters, or have been unsuccessful before, or take courses to increase their grades. The final grade for the course is accepted. Students should take this into consideration when selecting courses at Summer School.

  • The GPA at the end of the summer school is taken into consideration in determining the courses they will take following the summer instruction, and they will be subject to the provisions of the relevant regulation.

SUMMER SCHOOL ACADEMIC RULES

The attendance, mid-term exams, final exams, end of semester exams, and evaluation of success for the courses at Summer School will be conducted in accordance with the principles specified in the relevant IUE regulations.

The success rate of the students depends on their grades at fall and spring semesters. The grades received at the end of summer school are included in the GPA but are not taken into account when determining the success rate.

NON-IUE STUDENTS WHO WANT TO ENROL TO SUMMER SCHOOL

Students from other universities can also benefit from IUE Summer School. Students from other universities need to bring the following documents for Summer School enrolment.

1.    Letter of Petition
2.    Summer School Application Form
3.    Copy of the ID card
4.    Education Certificate
5.    Bank receipt of the summer school fee

IUE STUDENTS WHO WANT TO ENROL TO SUMMER SCHOOLS OF OTHER UNIVERSITIES

Senior students, whose graduation depend on the summer courses they take, are allowed in principal to take courses at Summer Schools of other universities on the condition that the courses they need to take are not offered at IUE Summer School. In such case, students need to get approval from the Department Head’s Office on such information as the content, IUE and ECTS credits, medium of instruction of the course, and apply with a written petition if approved.

The applications of students who want to take courses from other universities during summer school is evaluated by the relevant department heads in terms of the content, IUE and ECTS credits, medium of instruction of the course and if approved, the student is allowed to take the course from other universities.

The students can be accounted as successful if the grade for the courses which is taken at other universities during summer school corresponds to minimum passing grade specified in the IUE regulations.  (For example, if the grade from an X University is at least 50 out of 100, the   student cannot be accounted as successful for that course at IUE. For the student to be accounted as successful for that course at IUE, the student needs to get 60 out of 100 which corresponds to DD.)

Other students at summer school are allowed to take courses from universities abroad (excluding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) whose equivalency is accepted by the Board of Higher Education and approved by the academic advisor and the Department Head.

Students are not allowed to take English Preparatory class and postgraduate program courses at Summer Schools of other universities.
