Military Processes


FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM STUDENTS


Postponement Period and Age Limit:

Military service for students may be postponed during the continuation of their education within the age limit shown in the table below.

Education Period:

Military service for students may be postponed during the continuation of their maximum education period shown in the table below.

  • Students who have been unsuccessful in preparatory class in 1 year may continue their education in preparatory class later. However, the period exceeding 1 year in preparatory class will be considered as used from maximum education period.
  • Male students who do not renew their registration (due to not paying tuition fee and/or not registering to courses) during the maximum period will be reported to Recruiting Office. They will not be able to benefit from student rights and will be considered using from their maximum period.
  • Students who could not graduate within the maximum education period will not be excluded from school. These students may register to continue with their education on the condition of paying their tuition fees. In this case, they cannot benefit from student rights except for attending courses or exams.
  • Students who could not graduate within the maximum education period:
    • For the students who did not reach age 29, the Military Status Documents (EK-C2) will be sent to the relevant recruiting offices by our university every year until they complete age 29 on the condition of paying the tuition for the semester. The military service for these students will be postponed by one year periods by the Ministry of National Defence until they reach the end of age 29.
    • Males over 29 can renew registration and continue their education. However, their military service cannot be postponed by the respective recruiting offices for the duration they continue their education.
    • If males over 29, who renewed their registration, submit a document stating that they were called to do their military service, the part of the tuition fee that the student did not receive education will be refunded to the student. When these students continue their education after they complete their military service, they will be charged tuition fees based on the current legislation.

Students Who Take Leave of Absence:

The education period of students who are excused by Relevant Boards (for leave of absence) will be added to their maximum education period and their military service will be postponed for these periods.

Under no circumstances, leave of absence for postponement of military service may exceed 2 years or 4 semesters.

EK-C2 Military Document:
EK-C2 documents for all Graduate and Vocational School male students of our university will be prepared and sent to relevant recruiting offices by the end of October of the year they registered to university.

Students do not need to apply for postponement procedures.

Attention to students:

  • Whose registrations are cancelled ,
  • Who graduated,
  • Who transferred to another university, their status will be reported by our university to recruiting offices they are registered to no later than one month.

Military service process for foreign national students will be carried out by themselves (if they have such an obligation), and they will be subjected to their native country’s regulations.

Students Who Take Leave of Absence:

The status of students who take leave of absence will not be reported to Recruiting Office. However, in the case of not completing their education within maximum education period, a proposal regarding the extension of postponement is made to Recruiting Office.

Under no circumstances, leave of absence for postponement of military service may exceed 2 years or 4 semesters.

Postponement Process:

A “Military Status Document” is required from Graduate and PHD program students during registration.

“Military Status Document” and a certified copy of “Diploma” will be sent to the relevant Recruiting Office to propose a postponement of the military service for the student by the Registrar's Office within one month of the exact registration date. Proposal will be finalized by the decision of the Recruiting Office and the student will be notified about the decision.

Students who wish to do their military service as they continue their education may file a petition to the university and request to cancel their military postponement. The status of these students will be reported to Recruiting Office upon their request and will be finalized by the approval of the Recruiting Office. The student will be notified about the decision.

The military service will not be postponed for those who had a graduate education in same or lower degree before and are going to have graduate education in the same degree for the second time.
