1-How are students admitted to your University?
Izmir University of Economics admits students according to the central placement carried out by ÖSYM on the basis of the ÖSS scores. Applicants make their preferences according to the quota stated in the ÖSYM guidelines and are placed accordingly.
2-Will you accept students in an additional quota?
If the quota is not filled following the initial placement procedures, then an additional quota may be implemented. These procedures are determined and updated by ÖSYM.
3-What kinds of student scholarships are available and what are the requirements necessary to maintain a scholarship?
4-What is the language of instruction in the University?
Izmir University of Economics is an English-medium University. Furthermore, second languages such as French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese and Greek are offered to undergraduates in the 4-year programs.
5-What are the transfer requirements?
6-Is it possible to transfer within departments at your University?
For 4-year undergraduate programs, it is possible to transfer after the completion of the freshman year, providing that requirements are fulfilled.
7-What is the annual tuition fee? Are there any payment alternatives?
8-Will the annual tuition remain the same in the upcoming years?
Tuition fees are determined annually by the Board of Trustees and announced.
9-May I be exempted from English Preparatory School Program if I get a sufficient score from TOEFL or similar exams?
The documents of the students who get sufficient scores from such internationally acclaimed exams such as TOEFL, IELTS or FCE are evaluated by the School of Foreign Languages and will be exempted from the preparatory school program.
10-Can I begin the freshman year after completing half a year in the English preparatory program?
A student must complete the preparatory school program in order to begin the freshman year.
11-Are there double major and minor programs?
Izmir University of Economics offers “double major programs” to outstanding students in the 4-year undergraduate programs.
Furthermore, “minor programs”are also available for successful students who want to specialize on certain subjects.
12-Are there any internship options available for students?
According to the existing framework of the courses, internship options are available within companies that are affiliated with the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. 4-year undergraduate students have to complete a minimum 4-week or 8-week internship. The duration of internship varies according to the characteristics of the departments.
13-Will there be summer school?
The University offers summer school courses in order to increase academic capacity and productivity. Summer school is not mandatory.

15-What is the language of instruction in graduate and doctoral programs? What are the class hours?
The language of instruction is English. The classes for the graduate programs are at 18:30-21:30 weekdays and on Saturdays. The doctoral program classes are held during the day.
16-Is an English preparatory program provided for those graduate students whose English is insufficient?
An English preparatory program is provided also for those students whose English is insufficient. This program is also conducted between 18:30 and 21:30.
17-What are the tuition fees for master and doctoral programs?

19-Is it possible to postpone military service if I register to master or doctoral programs?
Yes. The candidates have this right of postponing their military service during their education at master/doctoral programs.
